Course Structure

Understanding composition and focal points in landscapes.

Week 2: Light and dark

Working with tonal values.
Week 3: Colour & Emotion
Mixing warm and cool palettes.
Using colour to evoke emotion and personal expression.
Week 4: Texture & Detail in Nature
Developing expressive brushwork.
Layering techniques for rich, vibrant surfaces.
Bringing personal interpretation to your landscape.
Week 5: Bringing it All Together
Review of techniques learned.
Working on a more sustained landscape painting, applying all principles.
Individual feedback and guidance for your final piece.
Course Details
Tutor: Libby Mason-Smith (Local Artist in New Forest – UK)

Morning session: 11:00 to 13:00 (5 x 2hr sessions)
